Hi Semi, Yup bottom feeding going on right now. I wonder about Asyt - I questioned their last acquisition.The whole world is going to outsourcing and they buy up the company that produces the subcomponents they assemble. It was the opposite of strategic - it was like they didn't have a place to go with their money. I always viewed Brooks as competition up against Asyt but more into the software side.The acquisition of PRIA is a move more to the manufacturing side and buying the best in systems that transport the pods.Asyst goes out and buys the companies that makes their pods. I think this positions Brooks well above Asyt in two out of three areas: software and transportaion(track) systems - Asyst may have an edge on pod design?? Might be death blow to Asyt? All insight invited - I'm by no means an expert. Each cycle trough renders dynamic mergers that create more powerful companies.1998 gave us KLA-TENCOR,Brooks buys up PRIA - I think that is very strong and dynamic. Wonder what else is going on out there? I'm wondering who will buy Schlumberger's test division.Who wants to be king of the back end? It will be a big bucks move - best done at the bottom where valuations are at the lowest and just before the turn. What say you ole sleuth guru?ggg Bob
