that's the type of arrogance and hubris which causes empires like ours to crumble. americans love to think that we saved the world from evil people like hitler.

the real reason america emerged relatively unscathed through the two world wars and europe fell to decline was because we stayed out of the beginning of the wars. whoever stays out the longest usually fares best. we would be even better off if we had stayed out completely!
