From the few lines Yaacov that he has posted, he has the refined, shined-up version, deleting all the uncomfortable facts of the founding of the faith. As someone commented to me many years ago, most people learn their faith from their Grandmothers, who know little themselves.

Remember, faith is spread and maintained, perhaps embellished as well, by women.

But fear not, Judaism is not alone. They all do it.
