Diane has another good column on immigration in today's paper, but I can't find an on-line version. Basically saying that the Libs are fundamentalist on the question of immigration, hence the jihad they declare on anyone who questions it.

We're all so shocked at their seeming incomprehensible lack of interest in implementing sensible policies. Our problem is that we're assuming that the Liberals are people of good will, just like us, who got into politics to try to make Canada a better place. A simpler explanation, one that's more consistent with the facts, is that they're in it to win elections (Chretien was asked by a school kid during his recent trip to China what his greatest accomplishment has been as PM; the answer was "winning elections.") Join the Liberal club and you get to play with unlimited tax dollars, and maybe get a shot at being dictator. Throw out the idea of the public good and it all gets much less confusing. You can import 250,000 guaranteed Liberal voters a year? Kewl.

We are paying so big for not having a viable opposition party.
