"One way to hit this enemy is to bring terror to them. One part of that is terrorizing them, bringing their worst fears home to them, not letting them know anything that we are doing. As the President said, many activities are taking place that will be "secret in their success." "

Ahhh. The old "silent but deadly gambit".
Worked for me when we had the "fart wars" back in college. LOL.

Seriously, that's the way war should be fought. I never understood all this telling the enemy what is coming next stuff. That crap may play well on TV, but there are actual, real live people that have to carry out these missions, and fight the battles, and the enemy (whoever it is) is firing live rounds at them, it's not video game "shit". A 50. caliber can cut a man in half. "Our boys" have enough to worry about without the press trying to turn this into a TV show like "survival", and having everyone watch play by play action.
One of the "big" reasons why we beat the nazis was because we knew beforehand a lot of what they were going to do, because of the enigma solution.

Rumsfield is doing the right thing by keeping the reporters at bay.

Anyone that has been in a combat zone, or has a loved one in one will attest to that.
