So many analysts have been saying that there won't be too many people rushing to upgrade to XP---that is all I have been reading today. Many were so way off target in the acceptance of Windows 98 so I don't put much faith in their analyzing abilities. That is actually a good thing for the stocks involved in this sector...the last thing that people want is very high expectations.

The big question is how many of the newer PCs are actually ready for XP; there is a lot of Pentium IIs and older Pentium IIIs (1/3 of the total out there according to some report I read). That should actually be very good for the PC and related semiconductors stocks. Again, analysts don't expect XP to do much in stimulating PC demand either.

Still, there will a lot more consumers upgrading than the analysts are expecting...most important feature being stability. Just wait until we start seeing the initial reports on the level of sales...it should surprise a lot of "experts", imho.
