Justa and particularly, the new comers to this thread. I keep getting PM's asking what are the turnips and how they came to be my "market guiding lights". The turnips are a group of more or less proprietary technical and fundamental indicators. the origin of their renaming (from "tea leaves" and later "Autumn leaves") is provided below:
Onceupong a time, there was a scam company called Imperial "something" IMPX (now defunct), and as with many scams, the pumpers battle cry was "If you are not long, you are wrong". Many good fellow cyberfriends fell prey to that very well disguised scam. Well, I dared not to agree with the bright "prospects" of that gold and platinum prospector, and engaged in simple analytical analysis why the company was not going to be the great success the pumpers were hoping for. Having no appropriate response but curses and personal attacks (it used to be called short bashing, though I never shorted a single share of that scam, actually made some little change on their regular pump exercises) , the pumper in one of his more lucid posts asked if I have fallen from a turnip truck (indicating of course, that I just landed on a thread where the discussions are well beyond the comprehension of a "turnip farmer"), and since I am originally a farmer, and turnips did use to be "my game", instead of responding in kind, I adopted the turnips as my guiding lights in that desert that is wall street, thus the turnips' readings.
Now I hope someone bookmark this post, and if a newcomer ask, simply direct the newcomer to this posy.
Good night and good hunting, I for one, am now at 40% cash (it would have been 42% if HAUP did not decide to almost double in the last two days), ready to deploy few lunch tactics, if available, or grab some bargains if made available. Apart of that, I'll be looking at reducing exposure further in the near future. I am still waiting for some of my laggards (like ADCT, RDRT, NOVN and IART) to make their move here, and if they do, profits will be taken. That is the name of the game. |
