"E) Intel has created an artificial shortage to divest itself of those excess processors."

I think the main reason Intel may have created the shortage is in order to get ASP's back up to a respectible level now that they have <sarcasm>so triumphantly won back all the market share they picked up in 3Q (approx. 0.7%) with only a 94% hit to their profit. Not bad at all Intel.</sarcasm>

With the Athlon XP launch at very good volumes, AMD's ASP's can also move up. If TBirds are indeed being phased out for XP's, that is good news. I think we may get hints of possible breakeven/profitable quarter at Nov. analysts meeting. I know, I'm dreaming.

Wow, I can't believe all the posts from the Intellabees today. May be a good sign of things to come for AMD. <Contrarian Alert> At least BMW was involved in a discussion about a timely subject. Paul was busy finding many ways to remind all here that Intel showed a profit and AMD showed a loss, plus to show that he could find old news. Anyhow, I agree that the signal to noise ratio has gotten pretty bad here.
