Hi Semi,

My bet is the back end buyer will not be TER.They have ,quite wisely endeavored to move outside of the crazy cycles that SCE sector inherently creates for themselves.

As an investor I have learned to love the cycles, but as a professional who suffers under them (as well as all the talent you try to attract and retain )- it must be stressful unless you are at the very top?

So my bets are as follows:

Amat - just a personal preference as they are the 800 pound gorilla. With their financial strength and stoick price stability - they may chose to flex their muscle here at the bottom - ( they are admittedly my preference).

A - Agilent has sold off their medical division.Their pedigree is semiconductor based and they have the financial power to pay Schlumberger the primo price they will command for the top flight technology (result of huge R&D)that they deserve and will command. Note the price paid by Cohu for their ASE division (about 14 million for a 1 million backlog) - the value was in their technology that propels them into the leading edge technology going out 2-3 years - ATC - Active Thermal Control - the next generation of handlers will cool the chip as stress(heat) from the accelerated test would normally destroy the marginal chip - at least it will be saved and sold as a lesser capacity chip vs scrapped - ( increase the yield).

So to buy into the testers for Intel will require a premium. The above two players have the ability and I think the desire. Sure would be a shame to see a bidding war start up!hehehe

Oh well it's late and I'm out of here.

Good luck tomorrow.

Bob
