Conference for Peace and Unity of Afghanistan expressed the hope that present crisis in the country could come to an end with effective involvement of eminent Afghan figures like former king Zahir Shah. The conference was organised by Assembly for Peace and National Unity of Afghanistan (Apnua), an alliance of more than a dozen groups headed by one of the seven former mujahideen leaders Pir Syed Ahmad Gilani.
