WINDOWS XP - played with a puter with XP on it, looks quite impressive. then again, i am still using Win95, gasp. came across this clip on yahoo about yesterday's XP lift-off in NYC: Mr. Gates and other executives at Microsoft, Redmond, Wash., said the product's introduction marked "the end of the Windows 95 era," meaning the long string of Windows products based on its old MS-DOS system. To bolster his point, Mr. Gates typed a final command "exit" after the once-ubiquitous "C" prompt known to DOS users. A mock explosion on the screen followed. hmm, guess i'd better upgrade. Have been looking at a Dell 1.6 P4, 40 gig HD, 256 ram, CD-R, etc for 1K (w/o monitor) jeez. thats a lot of puter. now if only CMGI would get back to 200... larry |
