So...you think Hammer can get say...$67 ?

Well, AMD juts lost $12 per CPU when their ASPs were $60.

So with HAMMER HAMMER HAMMER, and your scenario, AMD will only lose $5 per Hammer.

You AMDroids are such great businessmen !!<

I always say, lose a little bit on each sale and make it up on volume.

Seriously, the value segment Hammer will be less expensive to produce than Morgan. The value segment Hammer will have a smaller die size than Morgan and be manufactured using bulk silicon. Additionally, the fastest value segment Hammer will be at a higher speed grade than the fastest value segment Duron, so even with value segment Hammers selling at just $10 more than the same speed grade value segment Duron, the ASP will be more than $10 higher. It is true that, because of the use of SOI, Clawhammer will be about the same cost as Palomino, but the clock rate of Clawhammer will be more competitive with Northwood than the clock rate of Palomino is with Willamette. This should provide a better than $10 increase in ASP for Clawhammer versus Palomino as well as for value segment Hammer versus Appaloosa.
