Civilians should not be targets whether ours or theirs. Unfortunately in this century the vast majority of war victims have been civilians. Heavy bombing --even when directed at military targerts -- almost always kills many civilians as well as soldiers. And nobody has bombed as heavily as we have.

But the key point is that this war is not going well at all and will be no cakewalk like Iraq in 1991. And civilian deaths have greatly increased Taliban support.
