Both letters are a fine way to be. I think I'd prefer my kid to be a solo masturbator in times like this- with Aids and other communicable diseases coming from both straight and gay sex, but I would appreciate knowing about their sexuality regardless of what it is (as long as it hurts no one, and is between consenting adults, or done alone)- and I would be thrilled if they were able to communicate it like that to me.
