Police want DNA samples from friends of Jovin

(New Haven-WTNH, Oct. 26, 2001 5:10 PM) _ The New Haven Police Department and state's attorney's office plan to ask colleagues, friends and acquaintances of Suzanne Jovin for DNA samples.

Jovin is the Yale university student who was killed in December of 1998.

Police say the DNA samples would be voluntary. They would be used to determine whether DNA found under Jovin's fingernails on her left hand is of any significance as evidence.

There have been no arrests in the case

Note: Anchor Keith Kountz reported that the police said the DNA found did not match that of Van de Velde or Jovin's boyfriend.
