I laughed myself silly at the second letter before I realized you were serious. So I went 'ahem' and tried to apply them by imagining the scenario with my sons.

Maybe I am abnormal, but having two children I had already considered what I would do if one came to us and announced he were gay. I would be sad only because I think that it is so very hard still to be gay in today's world for many reasons.

In the second case, I would feel sad because I think it would be a lonely choice, but if he still had friends and work, well, perhaps his life would still be full(sorry I'm laughing again).

I think that sexuality is a personal matter, but I think when it will involve a lifestyle choice, it is good to be honest with those whom you love and who love you.

I didn't feel negatively about either. Now I will go see what others say.
