Police Seek DNA Samples In Killing of Yale Student

(New Haven-AP) Police are seeking D-N-A samples from men who knew Suzanne Jovin, a Yale student who was killed nearly three years ago.

New Haven police and prosecutors say they want to compare the D-N-A to some male D-N-A found under Jovin's fingernails.

Investigators say they're trying to determine if the D-N-A belongs to a friend of Jovin's, or if the D-N-A could belong to her killer.

Prosecutors say the D-N-A does NOT match samples taken from Jovin's boyfriend, or from her thesis advisor, James Van de Velde. Police say Van de Velde remains one of several suspects in the killing.

The 21-year-old Jovin, from Goettingen, Germany, was found stabbed 17 times in a wealthy New Haven neighborhood in December, 19-98.

No one has been charged in her death.
