Which tells us more? Our instincts, or what we have been led to believe we should feel?

I found your take on this really interesting. If our gut reaction is that something is preposterous and laughingly inappropriate ... then why do we need to force ourselves to have second thoughts? Doesn't our gut feeling most accurately reflect the sum total of our wisdom? Who is telling us that we need to think on this some more, and why is their wisdom(?) to be preferred over our own?

I don't think loving our children means that we need to find (or invent) some way to validate any and all of their choices.
