Dear Thread:

On PW, the price of a 2GHz P4 just fell $117 to $398. A 1.9 GHz P4 just fell $99 to $284. It seems P4 prices are dropping like a stone. Given that there are supposed to be shortages of P4s, I guess that P4 demand has all but stopped. I wonder how a cut in P4 sales QoQ would do to Intel since desktop P3s are no longer being made. Could we see red in Intel's Q4 earnings?

Pete

PS: There are now fewer listings for P4s than Athlon XP 1800+s. It may be that 8+ million in AMD CPU Q4 unit sales estimate may be on the low side.
