What is best for Palestinian is not necessarily best for Arafat. What can Arafat, or for that matter Hamas, get out of a peace settlement? An assasin's bullet within a few weeks or a democratic election that ends his/their autocratic rule within a few years? All Arafat and the various Palestian militias are doing is perpetuating the state of war and try their best to profit from the raw power that the conflict endows those so-called leaders.
