Alcatels Codec is competition for Nortels and therefore NUKO.

Alcatel need Cisco's tag switching, else they won't sell high
end ATM switches into the carrier market!!!!!! This is nothing
to do with NUKO.

True Alcatel / Cisco allieance will be big, especially for ADSL
vendors as ATM over ADSL may become technology of choice
as it would allow QoS all the way to the home.

QoS wiould allow better pricing models for Telco's etc etc etc

Alcatel will integrate Tag switching into their Codec, just as
NUKO will do in the future. There are really no options left
as Ipsillions IP switching is more suited for
the enterprise rather then the carrier market (it won't scale).

I expect that Nortel may well be close to signing such a deal
also (to pick up TAG switching) This would be good for both
Cisco and Nortel !!!!!
