Public schools do not know WHAT to do with troublemakers. They "blue slip" them and send them to the office for a little guidance and minutes later they are guided right back to your class with a smirk on their face. My wife had the kids who could barely act if they weren't acting out. Trying to deal with it in class took away from other's education but realistically her job became a frustrating effort in damage control. Administration was cowed by parents who complained that their child was ...(insert offense)....by teachers and paralyzed by any threat of legal proceedings. Unions were very poor at standing up for teachers that had been threatened either by the students or by the administration.

One student out of the blue asked my wife, "Do you like anal sex?" Everyone's a comedian which would be fine if it was the Eminem School of Comedy. I would blame the parents for this but often there is only one (busy working) or a grandparent that carries no authority. A mess.
