Dear Pete,

"There are now fewer listings for P4s than Athlon XP 1800+s. It may be that 8+ million in AMD CPU Q4 unit sales estimate may be on the low side."

This is very encouraging and I am very bullish on AMD right now. Just one little thing bothers me a bit: The Athlon 1400 used to be number 1 on the daily *general* top 10 bestseller list of K&M Elektronik for many weeks. The next processor on the *general* bestseller list has been the Athlon XP 1500+ (previously it was the Athlon 1200) at number 9 or 10.

Now the Athlon 1400 is gone and the best selling processor is the Athlon XP 1500+ - still being number 9 or 10 on the general bestseller list. So the Athlon 1400 is not substituted. AMD just lost its best selling processor while the other processors apparently didn't improve very much in sales.

Of course, this is just one single online vendor in Germany with very, very limited significance. Nevertheless, I would be happier if the Athlon 1400 was still around and selling like hotcakes as it was before.

Peter

Edit: This is only valid for the DIY market. Of course, the arrival of the Athlon XP seems to fuel AMD sales in the OEM market big time as it as indicated by several very important design wins for the AXP in large German food chains (sorry for always referencing to Germany; I just cannot judge the situation on the US).
