Craig, I believe that SNDK is marking its ownership to market, for instance, the UMC investment was marked down by $120 MM between December 31 2000 and June 30 2001, in the last quarter they further reduced that investment to $29 MM taking a charge of $110 MM on foundry investment (Tower and UMC). Frankly, when (if ) UMC stock goes back up, the current book value of $8.8/ share could easily be increased by few bucks again. They also have quite a big chunk of cash and short term investment (about $4/share or about $270 MM). As for Toshiba, I did not know they were trying to "dump" the new facility, where is this info from?
