>>cognitive dissonance...makes me momentarily see red<<

The market storms up and there's no end to bad news - is this not an example of a cognitive dissonance? Except if it's mewho does not get it. Probably the idea (in the market) is: "hell, so many bad news, must be the bottom". Plus the end of the month is near for the fund managers. OTOH all this may be DJ rationalizing his position - "makes me momentarily see red" means I am into puts and I am down.

re Jay: no life signs from him lately. Hope he lurks around though and realizes, we care - btw he knows much better than anybody here how to survive a burnt-down house or two.

Re "havel havelim..." what about "vanitas vanitatum..."

The author...was he small, thin, mouse-like,restless... or fat, slow-moving, cool (thanks to the peacock-feathers fan, powered by slaves provided by the queen of Shaba...). Did he sleep late or did he get up before the first cock and tried to figure it all out (...look at all those stars above Jerushalaim...)

PS: re Pitera's thread - I just did not know, where to look for it, that's all.
