What about a regular vietnamese??

Well, like a load of folks who grew up in the 60's and 70's and who have read a bit of history, the thoughts and desires of the Vietnamese wanting to be a free country tore at a heart string or two. The French Colonialists and later the USA bashing the communists were a terrible barrier to Vietnam becoming "it's own country". The Vietnamese fought so hard to earn that right.

I don't think they see the USA as an enemy now though.

Not with all that coffee and pepper they have to sell.
