Re: Progress This is another book-length topic, but it is an area that those in the West, particularly in the U.S., often misunderstand. What one culture views as "progress" is often viewed very differently by other cultures. The dominant technological culture of the West is racing ahead at an accelerating rate and the bowshock of this advance is profoundly reshaping the world at a pace that even those at its epicenter find disorienting. We cannot stop or even slow this advance, for the technological genie has long escaped the bottle. Instead, we are being forced to evolve far more rapidly than at any point in human history. Quite simply, if our spirituality does not keep pace with our technology we will destroy ourselves. As individuals and as groups we can choose love or we can choose fear. The path of love leads to life, freedom, and the divine. The path of fear leads to death, slavery, and hell on earth. The choice is ours to make, and indeed we are making it in our every thought, word, and deed, for these are how our choices are made manifest.
We cannot avoid this choice. Some have already made their choice. Some will reconsider and choose again. Many are hesitant, but hesitancy is but an aspect of fear and is thus itself a choice. Our collective choice will create our reality, but our individual choice will control how we experience that reality. |
