Took my 15 year old nephew to his first concert tonight. Jane's Addiction. I had no idea who the opening acts were, I was delighted to find out that the Stereo MCs were one. Then I found out that Courtney Love and her new band were the other. Stereo MCs - If you like to dance, this is a great band to move to. They put on a great show, good sound and very interactive with the crowd. Old favorites of "Connected" and "Elevate My Mind" were the first and last songs respectively. The middle songs were from their new album "Deep Down & Dirty" and were funky and tight. Courtney Love - Sucked. Time to hang up the guitar and give those vocal cords a rest dear. (and I was once a big CL and Hole fan). Jane's Addiction - Rocked! They were as good today as the first time I saw them live at lalapolooza a lot of years ago. Started with "Ocean Size" closed with "Mountain Song". Played an equal number of songs from Ritual de lo Habitual and Nothing's Shocking. When they played "Three days", the show got highly erotic with about 5 very scantilly clad woman doing some interesting things (the song is about a menage a trois). In between songs there was a circus type act that was entertaining. Halfway through the show, there was an extended break between songs and then all of a sudden the band moved to a mini stage that was out in the middle of the audience (this was at the hollywood bowl). They did a great version of "Jane Says" followed by a couple of other songs including one Porno for Pyros song. If you decide to catch the Janes Addiction show, I would spring for the extra $$$ to get a good seat since the sideshow is very entertaining....especially the chicas.<g>
