O/T...I love the woodstove heat...nothing like it at all. I'll agree to that, also. I originally intended on putting in a zero clearance fireplace in my family room in the basement as I remodeled it. That summer a huge ash tree on my property died. I could not let all that hardwood heat simply go up my chimney so I put in a decorative wood stove instead. I'm so glad that I did that. I had several cords of wood from the ash tree. I've never seen anything burn like it. It burns long, very hot, and leaves less ashes. Best of all my chimney pipe stayed clean. Unfortunatley all that wood is long gone now except for some kindling. (I wasted nothing from that tree.) Everything else that I burn seems like labor. I'm tempted to cut up some of my old baseball bats made of the same stuff... <g> That stove in the basement cranks. I installed a few vents to the upstairs. It could heat my whole house (at least most if it) if I had to, in an emergency or a power failure. Unfortunately I have my PC in the same room. Occasionally on a few of those sub zero January evenings, I've been know to sit im my shorts and tee shirt just to post a message in the near 100 degree heat as I try to save a few bucks on my oil bill... The heat does wonders for that pentium processor... The catalytic converter works fine, but I wonder how long it will last. The price of wood certainly has gone up. I finished stacking mine months ago. My neighbor just got quoted at $125 per cord. How does that price relate to the rest of you wood burning stock traders? -ClappyTheWoodBurner
