"their unwillingness to let failing banks collapse" -- Keep watching. JPM's leveraging their shareholder equity at 600+ to 1 through derivatives may give our government a chance to make the same decisions. "the staggering debtload banks in Japan have" -- Give me a break. In America, the debt load from Joe Blow all the way to the top is staggering. When this debt load collapses, you won't find pieces in the rubble. "the collapse of the Japanese real estate market" -- I guess you didn't see the housing index this past month? Largest drop in 16-year history. Maybe not, but could be the start of the unwinding of that bubble also.

I remain,
