Kevin Kalkhoven Elected to AMCC's Board of Directors
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2001--Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (Nasdaq:AMCC - news) today announced that Kevin Kalkhoven, co-founder of Kalkhoven, Pettit & Levin Ventures LLC and previous chief executive officer of JDS Uniphase Corp., has been elected to AMCC's board of directors.

Prior to co-founding the venture firm of Kalkhoven, Pettit & Levin Ventures LLC, Kalkhoven led Uniphase Corp. as president, CEO and chairman and oversaw its transformation from a privately held manufacturer of industrial lasers into a publicly held leading global supplier of components and modules. As Chief Executive Officer of Uniphase, he oversaw its merger with JDS FITEL in 1999 and the emergence of the combined entity, JDS Uniphase Corporation, as a leader in the fiber optic components and modules marketplace.
