G,
The problem is that the Palestinians never have accepted the legitimacy of Israel. When it comes time to sign an agreement they always back off. Arafat's failure to sign last year's deal was a major profile in lack of courage. Please note that Egypt and Jordan both signed agreements with Israel that recognized its right to exist. Please note that the Saudi's never have recognized israel and since they fund the Palestinians, they too must share in the blame. mike
PS Did you get a load of that saudi prince on 60 minutes. Made Tarik Aziz interview look tame. Tarik was distancing himself from bin laden because Iraq is anti-fundamentalist state. But he failed to mention that they have common cause in overthrowing saudis and liquidating israel. Ultimately they would fight each other for the spoils but in the short term they make common cause. We have been dealing with an opening to Iran recently. Does anyone believe that those cynical iraqis could cut a deal with the US that renounced weapons of MD and turned over all intelligence on BL which iraq must have a ton of in return for "forgiving" of past sins. If we are doing that with Iran, why not Iraq? Just an alternate idea of other possibilities, unlikely as they might be. mike
