Merrill Lynch says rally is oversold bear rally
very similar to April/May rally
taking profits before spate of bad economic news

this is my perception as well, expressed two weeks ago
strong resemblance between current rally and spring rally
that rally "gave" the economy until late summer to prove itself
it was a grant of 4 months time

this rally might "give" the economy until late winter or early spring
we might see another grant of 3-4 months time

my take on the federal tax cut stimulus is that IT IS TINY AND ONLY MEANS A FEW $100 PER TAXPAYER

my take on the Federal Reserve lower rates and money infusion, is that IT IS DESPERATE AND SO FAR NOT GAINING TRACTION

my take on effect of lower rates is that IT IS REDUCING HOUSEHOLD DEBT BUT NOT INCREASING HOUSEHOLD SPENDING

we still got big new hidden taxes all over
greater security, slower shipping, bigger inventory held

wondering where increased efficiencies might appear
with conference calls, reduced unnecessary business travel
maybe Microsoft Windows XP will be a positive?
dunno, Jim
