To say we supported them for a base of operations to defend those who hate Isreal is marginal at best. I have a news flash for you: those who hate Israel also hate us, for the same reasons. They just hate Israel worse for being over there. When the chips are down, would you really rather rely on Saudi Arabia? I think we can all see how well that is working at the moment.
