Interesting conversation you guys are having about the more technical aspects of the OS, but it really has nothing to do whether the average consumer will benefit from XP.

Here's an example of how the CONSUMER will benefit. I have a digital camera. It came with piss poor software from Casio. I purchased an editing program from Adobe. It takes forever to load, is unreliable and extremely challenging for the average user. There is no chance whatsoever that I could teach my mom (for example) how to use this software in order to do a simple function that XP totally integrates.

She'd have to know how to get the computer to recognize the camera, download the photos off of the camera, find a particular photo in the mess of Casio's poorly labeled folders, open the editing program from Adobe, find the photo again, this time with no way to see what photo she is after other than writing down the long gibberish file name, crop or otherwise alter the picture so that it's fit to email, save the photo in a folder that's findable in the future and finally email the photo to a friend. Trust me, nobody with AVERAGE computer talents has even a remote chance of doing these tasks easily.

Windows XP changes all that. It does the process seamlessly and simply.

This is why the introduction of Windows XP brings such tremendous BENEFIT to the CONSUMER. Integrated applications that work and work easily!

Microsoft is the greatest thing to happen to the consumer since sliced bread. Those that don't understand why Microsoft is so successful with the average computer user are out of touch with reality.

IMO,
Dave
