"There may have been a mention of a vote here, certainly not a call to arms."
Ok, a bit of an an exaggeration. But here is what dear, sweet Monica posted.

Her intent was certainly to have people who do not frequent the thread to vote in Paul's favor. According to Mani, most of the votes in Paul's favor were from the Intel and Rambus threads. While the result of the vote was not in Paul's favor, that "stuffing" made it closer than it otherwise might have been. Message 15586696
" I think "flame wars" is an exaggeration, when Paul "flames" it is usually aimed at AMD directly, or indirectly through the individual."
I think you are soft-pedaling what Paul has been doing by quite a bit. He consistently calls other people stupid directly. He uses what many feel are objectionable names and imagery. He engages in a variety of juvenile name-calling, not all of which is aimed at AMD directly.
Now personally, none of this bothers me at all. As a result, I have voted to keep Paul from being suspended, although I don't always vote. my personal viewpoint is that if someone objects to his posts, ignore him. Obviously there are those that don't feel that way...
" It's his anti-AMD views that really get to you guys."
What can I say? You are wrong. Period. It's Paul's need to be a potty mouth that get's him in trouble. Use of such things as "AthWipe" gets real old after it is used 1000 times or so. FWIW, I don't care much for "PeeWeeIII" either, but you don't see it much anymore. Those sort of names are funny/interesting only for the first few dozen times or so.
The fact that Paul has pushed this to the point that it is a permanent ban only shows his persistence in breaking the rules. Mani has been bending over backwards to avoid pulling Engel's plug, and Paul has used that against him. I personally think Mani should not have had that particular provision in his rules in the first place, but he does, and he has to go by them. Paul was totally unable to moderate his behavior for very long, so here we are. This is Paul's fault, and no ones elses. |
