A better approach would be to create a sealed bullet proof cabin and have an emergency auto-pilot takeover system within reach of the pilots. Whenever an emergency happens, the pilot hits the button and the plane locks into auto-pilot and automatically lands at the nearest airport. This feature could also be available to the flight crew in secret locations. With this system operating, Sky Marshall's could be limited and fly randomly on different flights.
