wana, I see the actions of AMD as far more effective in the forced reduction of the Intel ASP than the economy. Without AMD Intel would have kept prices a lot higher and had a far better ASP.
A detailed analysis with an economist would probably slay this dragon definitively in your eyes.
Something long the line of:
all other parts drop in price due to competition, except Intel parts. Apply this to the price elasticity curves and see how many fewer units sell since the price is higher, and remember many sale s are must sells, they would buy whatever the price(many corporate sales are like this). Then get the ASP of each unit and remember both the number of units sold and the ASP will be higher without AMD, therefore AMD had more of an effect than the economy.
