"Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood was definitely in the 80s (1984). "F*** tha Police" by NWA was in the 80s as well (1988), but wasn't on the radio. "I Touch Myself" was in the early 90s and on the radio.

I agree that most of the (radio) music of the 80s was fairly tame, although some punk/new wave stuff of the early 80s was more adventurous.
