trade, i agree that the current pricing situation is nothing like what occurred in california and texas during the late 80s. that being said, there are pockets of housing that could drop 30-50% quickly. stocks were the main tulips this time around with the real estate market benefiting greatly. heck, my home is up 50% in three years - and it wasn't cheap when we bought it! 5 years ago you got a 2 story for less than we paid for our 1 story 3 years ago!
