Somebody is sure to pick up on it so yes, that was a bit sloppy because I know that 'Africa' wasn't colonized by the British. Only parts of it were. The point is the mutual benefit from the empire, just as the USA and I mutually benefit from Pax Americana. They aren't 'using and abusing' me and I'm kind to them [unless they are naughty in which case I give them some consequences to get them to behave properly].
