Debka has a fairly long history of being completely wrong on these things.

The primary error here in this one is the assumption that the US doesn't have sufficient ground forces. Tell that one to the Iraqis, they bought it at one time.

Instead, they will probably use US forces the same way as in the Gulf War, as shock (or assault) troops. The Revolution in Military Affairs has given the US almost unbelievable advantages over 3rd world nations in all kinds of military combat, both ground and air.

But where US forces would be most in danger is in long garrison duties, and that is where the Turks have already agreed to come in. Maybe the Pakistanis will get involved too.
