That would be a more believable scenario if Intel had not done something similar when it introduced the original Celeron. Intel dropped the price of the Celeron to what "Microprocessor Report" considered to be the cost of manufacture, and made their profit on the PentiumII. It had the, I am sure, unintended side-effect of driving Cyrix, Winchip and Rise from the market. It also almost drove AMD into bankruptcy, but then AMD finished the Athlon and...
