Sharp Selects Tripath's Digital Audio Amplifiers for World's Largest Flat-Panel Television
Tripath's Class-T(TM) 1-Bit Digital Audio Amplifiers Address Customers' Needs For Low Power Consumption and Quality Sound in a Compact Space
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Tripath Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: TRPH - news), creators of Digital Power Processing (DPP®), announced today that Sharp has selected Class-T(TM) 1-bit digital audio amplifiers for its AQUOS 30V-inch LCD Color Television thin-form-factor speaker system. Sharp selected Tripath's Class-T TA1101B digital audio amplifier due to the enhanced performance of Tripath's solution. The innovative Class-T 1-bit digital amplifiers are designed for systems that require high quality sound and low power consumption in a limited space.

``Tripath is leading the way in quality sound for the Flat Panel Television market,'' said Dr. Adya Tripathi, Chairman, President and CEO for Tripath. ``The growing need for outstanding performance and low power consumption in compact systems has prompted many leading audio manufacturers to adopt Tripath's Digital Power Processing (DPP) technology.''

The Sharp LC30HV3, 30V-Inch, Wide Format AQUOS LCD Color Television takes full advantage of the most attractive features of LCD TVs, such as thin-profile, light-weight and small footprint. Tripath's Class-T 1-bit digital amplifier is well suited for the LCD color television because of the successful combination of sound quality and high efficiency allows for a smaller overall footprint that is compatible with the AQUOS form factor.

Combined with Tripath's Class-T 1-bit digital amplifier the LCD TV provides high-quality bass-reflex sound from the thin-form-factor side speakers. The televisions can be placed on a wall, on a bookshelf, or anywhere else consumers can imagine.

About Class-T(TM) 1-bit Digital Audio Amplifier

Tripath's Class-T 1-bit digital audio amplifiers rely on a fundamentally new approach to amplifier design that uses semiconductor-based amplifiers that provide significant performance, power efficiency, size, weight and cost advantages over traditional amplifier technology. Instead of conventional pulse width modulation, Class-T employs multiple signal processing techniques, including adaptive/predicative processing, noise shaping, pre-distortion and delta-sigma modulation.
