I do not find what you are trying to say about current policy clear. Since I think it is the correct policy, and you do not offer a substantive criticism, I do not have a comment.

I could go on quite a bit, but let's keep it to two.

1. Having US forces drop "humanitarian aid" was totally stupid. You've got the Taliban saying that the US is poisoning it; you've got the US saying that the Taliban may poison it and blame the US...either way it's "poison". The US is saying it's not interferring with NGO aid [ignoring that we've destroyed more Red Cross aid than we've shipped in]; despite the NGOs are saying the US bombing is interferring.

I don't know what you believe, but there isn't anyone out in Europe [including Americans] who believes that US humanitarian aid has anything to do with humanitarian aid.

2. Setting foot in Pakistan is the biggest mistake of them all. They should have operated forces out of the Med until they could establish a position in Afghanistan. The majority of people in Pakistan support the Taliban; the Pakistan intelligence service has been supporting the Taliban for the last 7 years. We put the government in Pakistan in a higher risk situation of being overthrown by pro-Taliban forces....and Pakistan has nukes.

The only way we should have used Pakistan is as a drop ship for humanitarian aid to be delivered by the Pakis..just as Iran is being used.
