Has anyone here made a full study of the confidence index and how it relates to the purchase of PCs?

I suspect that the purchase of PCs has significantly greater weighting with other factors - such as replacement cycles.

The drop of 10% in the confidence index, from expectations, from a sheer numbers standpoint, basically means that those individuals who, from the survey, who have "less confidence", represent about 1% of the overall PC buying population relative to Dell. The confidence index they are looking at is consumer weighted - whereas Dell's purchasing statistics remain business weighted.

I realize they are looking at confidence trends, i.e., a down trend. But, what goes down must come back up. As long as Dell retains consistent sales in the face of low confidence and increasing competition...which they are doing
