Hi,

I agree the Sega deal is important for short term appreciation of the stock. I don't think this 3Dfx stock will take of like RAMBUS though. I was thinking that RAMBUS will do well, but mostly because it's technology is backed by Intel, not that it was used in the N64.

A couple of things concern me about the stock long term though:

1. Things will get pretty competetive in this market. For instance STB will be making a 2D/3D board that is reportedly much faster and at a lot less cost.

2. There is not cost effective (less than $200) 2D/3D board that uses the 3Dfx chipset. The chipset will not be used via OEM until that happens. Hopefully this will change in the near future.

3. Although I'm sure 3Dfx is planning a 'better' chipset, there is no indication when this will be done.

So far 3Dfx has been amazingly successful as far as their technology and 3rd party support. I think 3Dfx has the best chance to be the next dominant player in PC graphics chips.
