You mis-understand. I DO NOT think the surplus is a success or a benefit. It is a curse worse than terrorists attacks. The deflation from a permanent surplus will drive the nation into economic depression that could last a decade or more. The calculation of the $127B surplus for FY2001 carries a screaming message: CUT TAXES AGAIN NOW! But, so far, the Congressional Dems have resisted, and the Senate Reps have shown their usual incompetence.

My message that you were referring to was that the small tax relief that Bush was able to get passed managed to preserve a surplus, once again giving the lie to the stupid idea that tax cuts cost the government revenues (quite the opposite is ALWAYS true). But the liberals stick to their decades-old BS line, because they know a healthy economy reduces federal power...
