LOL! I better not butt into the cosy conversation about how British were God's answer to India's prayers... Maybe you need to find reference to Jaliyanwala Bagh on the internet. And you thought dragging the bodies of US soldiers thru streets was height of inhumanity ? You thought stealing American Nuclear Secrets was the ultimate in theft and crime ? Think again.... Everything, everything pales in comparison ! Centuries of consistant torture, abuse, rape and plunder... Teaching Indians to eat with forks and knives and to play cricket is not the ultimate Hawkmoon, neither is it life's purpose to build skyscrapers and write computer code. Human dignity and freedom is what it is all about. India is a spiritual country...has always been thru the ages. Materialism is a nice to have, not a need to have. Just a different philosophy than the West has.....but inner peace of mind is the main goal of life there...still is..... I'd rather be poor and happy than be bullied and tortured into being bonded, unhappy and rich......wouldn't you wish the same for yourself and your coming generations ? British wanted India to be what Pakistan is today. Dependent, poor, helpless and pathetic. So they could say "British Rule was Better". Well....it was not.
