Mike,
>Is this war is or is this a TV series?<
That's easy..........its both. Just ask CNN and FOX...... 24/7....I hope they're paying the US to help them fill their broadcast hours with sound and video bites.
In regards to Saddam, I don't see anything cryptic about what he's saying. I think he's simply suggesting that the whole Muslim world might join together to fight the US and any of its allies that join in. Perhaps he's right. If so, so be it. Better to have it out in the open now, than a couple of countries this year, a couple next yet, etc. Its nice to know who your enemies really are.
Related to that issue, the more I hear American Muslims talk on TV, the more I question whether their allegiance is to America, or their religion. In any case, one certainty is that the Muslim population around the world seems to be a gigantic posterboard demonstrating the wisdom of separating church and state. We're been told, and I'd like to believe, that there is this huge majority faction of moderate Muslims around the world who abhor religious-based violence.........maybe so, but like I said in an earlier post, where are they? Where is the call to conscience, where is the shame, anger, and outrage at the actions of the fundamentalists? Most of what I see looks like some thinly disguised pride at what happened.
Believe it or not, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt..............but I'm finding that my idealistic side is losing out to my cynical half. Fact is, there are a lot of chips yet to fall, and until they're all done rattling around, we can only sit, watch, and speculate.
